1:48 scale Beshir rug, circa 1850

Needlepoint design by Anna-Carin Betzén, based on a full-scale rug

Stitched with DMC floss on 48 count silk gauze, the Beshir rug measures 25×49 mm (1"×1 15/16"), plus striped tabby ends and fringe.

The colorful tabby weave ends of the original rug inspired me to recreate them using my faux tabby weave instructions, found on the fringing page.

The original rug has irregular patches of different colors in the background, as shown in my stitched rug. A solid dark ground will give a very different, much stricter look, as seen in the rightmost thumbnail.
