144 scale Ersari rug, circa 1900

Needlepoint design by Anna-Carin Betzén, based on a full-scale rug

This is my first 1:144 scale needlepointed rug. I stitched it on 60 count silk gauze using Gütermann silk sewing thread. If you want to try small-scale miniature needlepoint, this pattern makes a good start. And, of course you don't have to use 60 count - 48 count is easier to stitch on and will still give you a usable carpet size.

This rug is "homeless" at the moment, but this photo shows it in a temporary setting in a matchbox roombox. The gentleman in the photo is a doll by Frances Armstrong.
